Tablet (NRN:04-3847): Dihydroartemisinin 60 mg; coated tablet.

Pack size: 8 tablets in versicular plates.

Pharmacology

Powerful plasmodicide of malaria parasite agamete which quickly controls symptoms. Highly effective against all types of malaria including multi-drug resistant malaria. It has a high safety and low toxicity profile. Reproduction toxicology: increase foetal absorption during pregnancy in mice. No mutation effects were observed.

Pharmacokinetics:

Following oral administration of Dihydroartemisinin, absorption is rapid and complete, and the active agent takes effect promptly.

Human pharmacokinetics parameters: Oral dosage 2 mg/kg, Tmax = 1.33h, Cmax = 0.71 mg/mL, T½ = 1.57h.

Indications

All types of malaria including severe malaria, cerebral malaria and multi-drug resistant malaria.

Contra-indications

The drug should be used with care in early period of pregnancy.

Adverse Effects

No side effects have been reported on clinical dosage. However, very few cases of temporary reticulocyte subsidence have been noted.
