Diclofenac is a nonsteroidal compound with a pronounced anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic properties. Diclofenac acts by inhibiting the prostaglandin biosynthesis, which plays major role in the causation of inflammation, pain and fever.
Approximately 20 minutes after IM injection of 75 mg of Diclofenac, a mean peak plasma conc. of 2.5 mcg/mL is attained. Diclofenac becomes bound to serum proteins at rate of 99.7% chiefly to albumin. The biotransformation of Diclofenac involves partly glucoronidation and hydroxylation followed by glucoronidation.
Acute severe pain due to inflammatory and degenerative forms of rheumatism, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis, renal colic, painful post-traumatic and post operative inflammation and swelling. Pain following dental surgery. Acute attacks of gout.
Peptic ulcer, hypersensitivity to the active substance or excipients.
Strict accuracy of diagnosis and dose. Medical surveillance are imperative in the patients with symptoms indicative of gastrointestinal ulceration with ulcerative colitis, or with Crohn's disease, patients suffering with hepatic impairment and pregnancy.
