Pharmacology

Sodium chloride solution is a useful fluid for sterile irrigation of the eye. Potassium Iodide has the ability to inhibit photodynamic reactions and related cataractogenic processes. Phenyl Mercuric Nitrate has antibacterial and antifungal properties.

It is primarily bacteriostatic although it may also have a slow bactericidal effect.

Phenyl Mercuric Nitrate is used as a preservative in Catarest Eye Drops.

Catarest Eye Drops helps to:

Maintain normal nutrition and biochemical composition of the lens

Prevent lenticular sclerosis

Prevent posterior capsular opacification

Delays cataract genesis Assists visual improvement in early cataract.

Indications

Catarest Eye Drops can be used for prevention of lenticular opacity Pre-operatively and for prevention of Posterior Capsular Opacity (PCO) post-operatively, in patient with cataract.

Catarast Eye Drops can be used especially, when the decision is to postpone cataract surgery in patient, with uncontrolled hypertension, diabetes mellitus, severe bleeding disorders and severe respiratory disorders.

Dosage & Administration

Instill 1 to 2 drops, three to four times daily or as instructed by the ophthalmologist.

Storage/Handling Recommendations

Store at temperature between 15-30oC in a dark place.

Do not freeze.

Keep medicines out of the reach of children.
