Doppelherz Aktiv Vital pregna

Doppelherz® Vital Pregna contains 12 vitamins and 5 minerals and trace elements combined with omega-3 fatty acids to help cover the increased nutritional needs of women who are trying for a baby, pregnant or breastfeeding.

• Omega 3 fatty acid extract enriched in DHA, to support healthy brain and eyes development of the fetus (in the womb) and of the breast fed baby. Omega-3 fatty acids are major constituents of cell membranes. Their concentration is the highest in the cells of the central nervous system (brain + retina). DHA has a positive influence on the number of long neurons and dendrites per neuron.

• Several studies shown that a good nutrient supply of DHA during pregnancy and breastfeeding supports baby’s brain development.

• Iron, Vitamins B6 and B12 are enzyme cofactors required for hemoglobin biosynthesis, they support blood formation and oxygen supply for the baby.

• Folic acid is a synthetic form of folate. In the liver it is converted to dihydrofolic acid, the precursor of bioactive folates. Tetrahydrofolate (THF) is required for the synthesis of the bases that compose DNA. Folates are needed for all cellular processes that require synthesis of DNA and gene transcription into mRNA. Since DNA replication is required for cell division, folates are consumed in tissues with high cell division activity (e.g. bone marrow that produces blood cells). THF deficiency leads to megaloblastic anemia (cells grow up without being able to divide).

• Folic acid plays an essential role in closure of the neural tube, which happens between the 22nd and the 28th day of pregnancy. Therefore, supplementation should be started 1 month before planned conception and significant in the first 3 months of pregnancy.

• Vitamin B1, Nicotinamide, Vitamin B6 and Pantothenic acid play an important role in nutrient assimilation and energy release from sugars and lipids. Vitamin B2 is required for cell protection, in particular nerve cells. Vitamin B12 is involved in cell growth and function and in the balance of the nervous system.

• Biotin is for healthy skin, hair and nails.

• Zinc has an important function in cell regeneration and protection, together with Vitamin C it strengthens the immune system.

• Also, Vitamin C is an essential cofactor for collagen synthesis. Collagen is one of the main constituents of the chorioamniotic membrane of the fetus, providing strength and elasticity which helps to prevent Preterm Premature Rupture Of Membranes (PPROM).

• Calcium to help maintain strong bones and teeth with supporting nutrients such as Vitamin D and Magnesium.

• Iodine: Thyroid hormones T4 and T3 have to be iodinated in order to be active. These hormones are involved in the regulation of several metabolic paths: basal metabolism, protein, fat and sugar metabolisms. These hormones are required for a proper fetal brain development.

• Magnesium activates several enzymes and influences energy-yielding metabolism and function of the neuromuscular system.

• Two months before conception, the fetus is prepared for the duration of pregnancy, during pregnancy mother and child to be born do not lack any important nutrient. Also, after delivery, mothers refill their micronutrient reserves, babies take benefit of it through breastfeeding.

Nutritional cover from two months before conception, during pregnancy and until the end of the breastfeeding period.

Treating and preventing anemia in pregnancy.

Prevention of spina bifida in fetus, premature birth and low birth weight.
